Direct Credit System
Pursuant to Supreme Court’s order dated 17-09-2007 and circular No. 11 dated 6th June, 2009 of State Bank of Pakistan issued to Banks, the Direct Credit System (DCS) of pension was introduced across Punjab. Under DCS, a pensioner can open a bank account in any scheduled bank including National Savings Centre for pension payment.
This office has achieved the target of 100% conversion of book pensioners into Direct Credit System. However, only 0.004% pensioners are drawing pension through PPO Book due to court orders, thumb impression issues, etc. The pensioner drawing pension through direct credit is required to produce a “Life Certificate” to pension disbursing bank branch in person or through representative after every six months i.e. March and September every year. Likewise, in case of family pension, the widow/widower, unmarried daughter or sister is also required to produce “Non-marriage” Certificate after every six months i.e. March and September every year.
